Julie Hatsell Wales, one of ten winners of the 2012 Carnegie Corporation of New York/New York Times I Love My Librarian Award, speaks about what it means to win the award.
Wales is a Library Media Specialist at McNair Magnet School in Rockledge, Florida.
Nominators cited Wales' collaboration with teachers and tireless work on behalf of students, saying, “Julie is the glue that holds this school together.” She brought new resources to the school library through grants, improved reading scores for students and has created a "culture of reading" that benefits everyone at McNair Magnet School.
