Everyone knows you can check out many things at your local library. But apparently at one library, books and DVDs weren't the only things being checked out.
According to Omaha Public Library blog, the library hosted a very successful speed dating event.
The second “Hardbound to Heartbound: Speed Dating at Your Library” event drew more than 70 guests.
According to the blog, "Though some were certainly looking for love, others were just looking for something to do on a Saturday night that didn’t involve going to a bar, and maybe there was just a hint of hope."
The event was especially successful for Jillian Liesemeyer and Andrew Roger.
Jillian drove more than two hours from Spalding, Neb., to the library's Benson Branch to keep a friend company at the event. There she met Andrew, who found a connection in the fact that both attended rival high schools.
The meeting eventually led to a long-distance relationship - Jillian lives in Kansas and Andrew lives in Omaha and they commute each weekend to see each other.
You may or may not find love at your local library, but one thing is certain: libraries are community centers where people can make valuable social contacts.
